What foods can we eat that reduce cholesterol?

In a previous blog post, I shared my thoughts about the value of healthy eating and my personal journey to healthier eating. Now I’m going to share with you what foods are known to reduce cholesterol and why they are good for you. I will also include the best time to eat them.

I have a confession: I love chocolate. I love ice cream. I love bacon. I love pizza. And so on and so forth. But I would love it even more if those foods were less fattening and less likely to increase cholesterol. The truth is that chocolate, ice cream, bacon, and pizza are loaded with saturated fats and cholesterol. Eating too much of them can put you at risk for serious health problems such as heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and obesity.

There are some foods that can help you lose weight and improve your cholesterol profile without having to limit your favorite foods. The following foods are some of the top choices when it comes to cholesterol-lowering foods.

You want to eat less * fats and salt and have healthier eating habits.

You are afraid that eating less fats and salt will lead to malnutrition. And it has been proven that reducing your intake of salt and fats increases your chances of developing a heart disease. So, you will not take risks by eating less fats and salt. You will also try to avoid the negative effects of consuming too much salt.

This is so much worse for your health. The main risk factors for high blood cholesterol levels include obesity, bad habits like smoking, high blood pressure and diabetes. You will be taking so many pills to lower your cholesterol and you will have co-workers who will think that your bad health habits are to blame for the high cholesterol. And there are so many negative concepts that are associated with raising your cholesterol. Like the word “cholesterol” which means “bad fat”. It’s been proved that eating too much fat will raise your cholesterol.

In this article, I would like to reveal a few simple ways to reduce your cholesterol. And if you follow these methods, your lifestyle will be healthier, happier and much more fulfilling.

What can you do to reduce your cholesterol?

Avoid Salt, Fats and Sugar

The first thing you should do is to avoid salt, fats and sugar. This will eliminate the most significant risk factors for having high cholesterol. These three substances increase your chances of developing a heart disease.

Your body needs some salt to regulate its temperature. But you need to avoid eating too much salt because it can cause you to retain water. Your body will have a difficult time keeping itself properly hydrated and the excess water can lead to a build up of fluids in your abdomen.

Consuming too much fats will also increase your chances of having high cholesterol. As fat will be stored in your body, your body will not have a way to excrete it. This will cause your blood vessels to become hardened and will create blockages. When you develop a heart disease, your * arteries will get clogged and it will be almost impossible to unclog them.

Finally, you should not consume sugar. This substance will increase your risk of developing a heart disease and an early death. Sugar will trigger a chain reaction in your body that will increase your cholesterol. And then it will lead to an increase in weight which will cause your body to gain more fat around your stomach. If you already have high cholesterol, you will experience an increase in the pain and discomfort that comes with the abdominal bloating that is caused by fat.

Eat Green Vegetables

One of the best things you can do to reduce your cholesterol is to eat a diet that includes a lot of green vegetables. This is because your body will be able to absorb more of the nutrients that they contain.

Green vegetables are loaded with fiber and they will keep you full for a long period of time. That means that you will not be eating a lot of fats. And that will make you less likely to have a hard time controlling your eating habits.

Also, the vitamins that are found in green vegetables will make your body healthy. And the presence of vitamin K in them will help your bones to become stronger. Green vegetables are also great for your heart. Because the vitamin C in them will prevent your body from getting damaged by free radicals. And the potassium in them will help to reduce your blood pressure.

Exercise Regularly

Exercise will help to reduce your chances of developing a heart disease and it will prevent you from having high cholesterol. But you need to exercise regularly.


Eating foods that are low in saturated fat helps lower cholesterol, which means a healthier heart.

There are several types of fats, but saturated fat is the most common type. Saturated fat is found mostly in animal products and is found in high amounts in full-fat dairy products like milk, butter, cheese, yogurt and cream. Saturated fats are also present in red meat, eggs, shellfish and tropical oils like coconut oil and palm oil.

Your body uses saturated fats to produce hormones like estrogen, testosterone and progesterone, as well as neurotransmitters like serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine and endorphins. The problem is that too much saturated fat can raise levels of LDL (bad) cholesterol, triglycerides and LDL particles. This leads to plaque build up in your arteries, causing them to narrow and become stiff.
