6 Steps to use Viagra for first time safely

Sildenafil Citrate, more popularly known as Viagra (Pfizer) is an effective cure for erectile dysfunction for men, and of course an anti-hypertension medicine. Without delving too much into the science, here’s how Viagra works: by stimulating the flow of blood as well as allowing the retention of the same in the penis. This combination of blood flow and retention allows the male sexual organ to be filled to the brim. As a result you get a bigger and harder erection for a longer period of time 4 to 6 hours after ingestion.

1- Be Aware of Side Effects

Viagra has a lot of known side effects. Most of which are manageable and are considered “bearable” compared to the desirable effects it has. Of course there have been known instances where Viagra caused serious side effects. Not to worry though, based on extensive clinical testing less than 1% of users have the slightest possibility of experiencing the same. And this figure goes down to virtually zero with proper precautions.

2- Consult with a Physician

The first and arguably the most important precaution to take is to consult with a physician. This is regardless of whether or not you have a pre-existing medical precondition. This is especially true if you have a regular sex partner and are more likely to regularly use Viagra.

3- Read and Follow the Instructions

Common sense dictates that you read the detailed instructions. This includes the proper dosage, time of intake as well as the proper time for continued use. When in doubt it is best to err in the side of less dosage or more intervening time before the next intake or dosage. Or better yet consult with a physician.

4- Do Not Take in Alcohol Prior to Use

It is clearly indicate din the instruction pamphlet that you should not take in alcohol before or after you take Viagra. Of course in some cases this almost always happens but at the very least, you should minimize your intake.

The primary reason is because alcohol works against the effectiveness of the medicine. As a result you may not get maximum results or even any results for that matter. The second reason is that it might cause undesirable side effects.

5- Empty or Full Stomach ?

The instruction will tell you that an empty stomach is preferred. However physicians will tell you that there are unverified claims that Viagra taken in after a relatively small meal that is low fat significantly reduces the onset of side effects. Although, it will take longer to take effect, the full effect will still be reached around 2 hours after intake.

6- Do Not Take Viagra with Other Medication

As a general rule you should not take Viagra during the effectiveness of another drug you have taken, regardless of what that drug is. Of course if the same is for maintenance or for other serious health conditions then the more you should be careful not to mix medications. At the very least if you consulted with a physician you should ask about any or every medicine you regularly or usually take and whether it is safe or not safe to take with Viagra.
