Uprima isn’t a new drug in the pharmaceutical industry, it was used in the treatment of Parkinson’s patients. Scientists have noticed that Apomorphine ( the active ingredient of Uprima ) has an amazing positive effect on the erection in their patients.
Does it Really Work ?
Evaluated in more than 5,000 patients, Uprima has shown that erection is not only significantly improved over placebo, but once men become fully aroused, they restores their normal erection.
The effectiveness of this new compound was assessed based on the ability to produce an erection sufficiently rigid for penetration. The evaluation was done by the interrogation of the patients and their partners.
A New Mode of Action
Unlike other Erectile dysfunction treatments like PDE5 inhibitors that act by increasing blood flow to the corpora cavernosa of the penis, Uprima acts on the level of the central nervous system. It comes in the form of a small tablet to melt under the tongue before sexual intercourse. Directly absorbed into the bloodstream, Uprima targets the brain and not the penis. Mimicking dopamine, a neurotransmitter , Uprima stimulates the areas of the brain responsible for arousal and erection.
The main advantage of Uprima is it can work much faster in comparison to the PDE5 inhibitors, because it acts on the brain directly.
Uprima is safe for erectile dysfunction. Some patients need sexual stimulation together with uprima in order to achieve an erection. It is recommended that patients start on the 2mg dose with dose increase to 3mg on subsequent administrations if necessary, to reach the desired clinical effect. As with Viagra, Uprima can help many men who have ED to achieve and maintain an erection when they become sexually stimulated, either physically or visually.
How Does Uprima Work?
Uprima is the first clinically tested and medically approved oral treatment that works by activating chemicals in the brain. Uprima tablets are dissolved under the tongue which triggers the chemical dopamine, starting the signal for an erection.
Following sexual stimulation, Uprima increases the levels of nitric oxide in the body dilating blood vessels and encouraging more blood to flow to the penis. It also helps transmit electrical impulses from the brain through the spinal cord, which in turn improves blood flow to the penis. As the penis muscle relaxes, the pelvic arteries widen, filling with blood and making the penis erect in less than 20 minutes.
Viagra Vs Uprima
Recent tests indicate very little difference between the success ratings of these two drugs. However, the main difference is the speed at which the two drugs get to work, largely caused by the way in which they are absorbed into the bloodstream. Viagra tablets are swallowed and therefore must be digested. As such, it can take anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour to take effect. Uprima, on the other hand, is absorbed under the tongue, directly entering the bloodstream and allowing patients to achieve an erection in 20 minutes or less. The effects of Uprima also last for longer than Viagra. The effects will of course vary between patients.
How do I know which drug is more suitable for my needs?
As both drugs are similar in their effects the decision of which one is more suitable is very much down to the individual. As Uprima is dissolved under the tongue, it may suit patients who are uncomfortable taking tablets.
However, as with any drug, you should consult your healthcare provider to establish your individual needs. Learn more by reading an comparison of erectile dysfunction pills.
When taking Uprima for the first time, it is recommended that the patient begin with a 2mg dose, increasing this to 3mg if necessary.
How to Take Uprima ?
It is recommended to take Uprima approximately 20 minutes before sexual activity. To help the tablet dissolve properly, it is a good idea to first drink a glass of water to assist the process. After taking the water, the tablet should be placed under the tongue letting it slowly dissolve – this usually takes about 10 minutes, If part of the tablet is still present in the mouth after 20 minutes, it can be swallowed.
Sexual stimulation is required for the drug to take effect, and for an erection to be achieved. It is recommended to have minimum interval of 8 hours between 2 tablets.
Due to an important first-pass effect, Uprima is ineffective when swallowed.
More than 4000 patients received at least one dose of Uprima in clinical trials. The most common adverse events observed in patients taking Uprima 2 or 3 mg were nausea and headache, both occurring in approximately 7% of patients, and a vertiginous state occurring in approximately 4% of patients.
Other minor side effects include: infection; pain; flushing; taste disorder; sweating; yawning; rhinitis; pharyngitis, somnolence, increased cough. However, such side effects tend to be mild and short-lived.
Uprima is contraindicated in the following situations:
– In patients with known hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients of the tablet.
– In patients with unstable angina, a recent history of myocardial infarction, severe heart failure.
The efficacy and safety of Uprima in combination with other treatments for erectile dysfunction have not been studied. Because of this, the use of such combinations is not recommended.
